Why Go to Golf School?
from:Golf is a sport that is supposed to be entertaining and fun, right? Much like basketball or baseball, it is typically considered a hobby or at the least an extracurricular activity. This might bring about the question, what is the purpose of golf school? After all, school was probably not exciting when you were growing up, and just the term brings to mind thoughts like homework and tests.
However, attending golf school is quite different. Here, you attend by choice (you’re probably thinking you would choose NOT to, but hold on!), and you pay for your lessons. Wait! Now you are even more concerned. Why would you pay to go to school that you don’t want to attend in the first place?
Golf is a difficult sport to become “good” at. It takes a lot of practice and honing of technique. In order to keep up with the crowd, you have to learn fast, and sometimes, it’s frustrating when you are constantly 3 strokes behind on any given hole. Going to golf school gives you the opportunity to work one-on-one with instructors who can watch you closely and critique your methods, giving you pointers and tips on how to improve. Because they can see exactly where your technique is lacking and can show you up close and in person, you have a better chance of learning faster and performing well sooner.
Basically, this means that golf school allows you to join in with more experienced players and finish with a score that is not embarrassing with less time involved. It’s like having a private tutor. Now, while the thought of school is not attractive, think of it this way. This is something that you enjoy doing – you like playing golf, but you want to be better at it. Perhaps when you were in school you played an instrument, and you really enjoyed it but weren’t very good at it. If you took private lessons, it helped you develop your playing skills, and as you became better at it, you enjoyed playing your instrument all the more. Going to golf school can do the same thing for you on the golf course. By allowing you to play a better game, it will help you to enjoy the time on the fairway even more.
Don’t let the term “school” scare you away. Learning to play golf is a difficult task and can be daunting when faced alone. Without help, you may even decide to quit. Instead, stick with the game that you so enjoy and enroll in golf school – as you start to improve drastically, you’ll be glad you did!
