The Rules Of Getting Around On Golf Carts

from:

Golf carts are a wonderful way to take the path from hole to hole. You are free to go at your own pace and you are not forced to carry your clubs and equipment from hole to hole, tiring you considerably and making your joints ache when you go down to make that potentially match winning putt. Therefore, it is a great thing to be able to use a golf cart. However, there are rules when using these golf carts and they must be adhered to. This is for the safety of the drivers and for the consideration of the other users of the course.

Rules of the game

Every course will have its own rules about how golf carts can be used and driven around the course. It is expected of the users of these power golf carts that they follow private paths. Many courses will have different sections and strict paths and directions leading to them. Therefore, in addition to following the paths, users should adhere to the directional signs that are positioned on the course. It is best to consult with the specific course that you are playing at in order to find out what the limitations are on the driving of golf carts. It is common that power golf carts are restricted from certain areas and therefore should not be driven into these areas. Limits of this kind include being within 30 feet of the greens. Another common specification is that golf carts should not be driven within 15 feet of tees or sand traps except where the paths are within that range.

Out of bounds

It is usual that a course will specify its cart rules on its scorecard. Another place where they might be found is in the clubhouse or even positioned near the first tee. Depending on the rules and the degree to which they are enforced, it might be possible that if they are violated, you might be asked to leave the course and be banned from the course. The rules are there for people's protection and should be obeyed at all times. You should avoid using the fairway, as it is a very dangerous area. Flying balls coming from all areas with people launching powerful drives in your direction. However, if you have to drive across the fairway, drive at a 90 degree angle to the fairway. This means that you are less likely to ruin the fairway and you are in a much better position to see if a flying golf ball is coming your way.
